About Us

Carle Foundation Physicians - Mattoon/Charleston is owned and operated by The Carle Foundation. The clinic joins many other Carle Foundation health-related businesses with locations in Coles County, including Carle Medical Supply, Carle Home Services, Carle RxExpress and Carle Therapy Services. Started by Carle Clinic Association in 1992, the clinic recently transitioned ownership to The Carle Foundation.

Carle Foundation Physicians - Mattoon/Charleston offers a wide range of services including primary care, specialty care and many other support services, such as imaging/radiology services. Patients have access to exceptional full-time physicians who practice in a variety of areas and several visiting physician specialists who have regular office hours at the Mattoon/Charleston location. The clinic also provides patients with a complete nursing and patient care staff, including three nurse practitioners and a physician assistant. Other services available at the clinic include a registered dietitian, an Audiology Services Department and an Occupational Medicine program.

Currently, more than 15,000 people choose Carle for their health care in the Mattoon/Charleston area. To meet patient demands, we want to provide more healthcare services closer to home for those who choose Carle for their care, including the 8,300 Health Alliance Medical Plan members in the area.

Our plans for growth include adding more physicians to the local clinic, expanding services such as radiology and imaging, and building a community surgery center. As we move forward with these plans, our actions are guided by our mission - to improve the health of the people we serve.

We are excited to be part of this healthcare community and we look forward to working with Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, independent physicians and other local healthcare providers to serve the residents of Mattoon/Charleston and provide top-quality health care services close to home.

Meeting our mission also means supporting the community. The Carle Foundation has a history of being involved in the communities where we offer health care services. Recently, we have made a significant donation to the LifeSpan Center of the Coles County Council on Aging and provided building space to Operation Sleighbell. We expect to build on the community service provided over the years and continue to work as a community and healthcare leader.
